Satisfaction Questionnaire, VAS and ODI Scale of Chuna Manual Therapy in Patients with Low Back Pain(LBP)

Abstract
|
|
|
Objectives :The purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate factors influencing the level of satisfaction of patients with LBP who have undergone Chuna Manual Therapy.
Methods :This study was conducted from April 2006 to October of the same year, at Department of Rehabilitation at the Sang-Ji University Oriental Medical Hospital, ninety-four patients who had been treated using Chuna Manual Therapy participated in the questionnaire. The participants were surveyed using the questionnaire of Dimatteo and Hays which was modified to serve the purpose of this study by the author. Both the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) were examined by the questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed by a t-test and ANOVA according to the purpose of this study.
Results :There was no difference in statistic values in LBP patients’ satisfaction according to age, religion, schooling, income, diagnosis, duration of disease, cost, the number of kinds of Chuna Manual Therapy used, the time required, waiting time, the number of other medical treatments, but there were differences according to sex, marital status, occupation, recurrence and the period of Chuna Manual Therapy(p<0.05). The LBP patients were satisfied with the doctor’s bedside manners, but were dissatisfied with their own occupations and family life. There was no difference between the statistical values of the LBP patients’ Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) according to sex, marital status, occupation, recurrence and the period of Chuna Manual Therapy(p<0.05).
Conclusion :And there were differences according to sex, marital status, occupation, recurrence, the period of Chuna Manual Therapy. Therefore, we should consider these factors in treatment resulting in treatment for LBP patients leading to more careful access to effective LBP treatment.
